Clinical Excellence and Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infection Prevention

Getting urinary catheterisation right isn't just about the insertion or replacing a urinary catheter, it’s even more about dignity, infection prevention and patient safety in the comfort of their own home.

In a community setting, where resources are leaner and patient independence is a priority, following the latest UK guidelines (such as NICE and RCN standards) is essential.

Here is our YTS professional course tailored for community healthcare providers, meeting the UK national standards and person centred care, best practice, gold standard.

Our Urinary Catheterisation Training is specifically designed for community based nurses, nursing associates, other health and social care professionals.

YTS Catheterisation training is aligned with NICE guidelines (CG139) and RCN Standards, a course which will take you beyond the "how-to" of insertion. We also focus on:

  • Reducing Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infection - CAUTIs - risk: Evidence-based infection control to keep patients out of the hospital.

  • Clinical Decision Making: Understanding when to catheterise, change the catheter, what equipment is most beneficial and possibly when to trial without (TWOC).

  • Patient Empowerment: Adapting techniques for the home setting to maintain patient dignity and independence.

Equip yourself with the confidence to provide gold-standard continence care for people.
